Given its impressive performance, this is a proper sleeper, but possibly the ultimate performance Legacy... Subaru threw the full STi works at it whilst developing it at the Nürburgring to perfect it’s handling setup.
The spec included a 2.5-litre flat-four boxer (EJ25) with a new turbo and ECU, increased boost pressure and uprated exhaust. This gave the sedate looking Legacy 282bhp and 289ft lbs of torque. Couple that to a tweaked STi six speed manual gearbox, STi-tuned dampers and springs, new anti-roll bars, quicker steering rack and you get one seriously punchy estate!
Only an eagle eyed scooby fan would spot the subtle cosmetic touches such as a unique mesh grille, widened arches, bespoke STi wheels and S402 badges. Only 402 of these limited models were produced so you will pay a premium over a GT Spec B for one of these...
This example in Japan is ¥3,054,000 JPY (£20K+ GBP) with just 51,000km on the clock. Arguably, when compared to similar performance German models it looks like great value!
