For all it's world beating performance, the factory intercooler system on the FK8 Civic Type R isn't the best design, at least in terms of performance. Under intense driving conditions or in particularly hot weather, the intercooler can suffer from hear soak.
With a view to improve this weak point, Mishimoto started by increasing the core size to more than double the stock dimensions. The 4.7" thick core boasts a massive 169% increase in overall volume and external surface increased by almost 190%.
The robust bar and plate core design not only offers strength, but improved flow for greater heat transfer. The plastic end tanks are a thing of the past, now replaced with aluminium ones.
Not content with just improving the core itself, the pipe work has also been revise. Large diameter, mandrel bent aluminium pipes replace the restrictive factory ones to allow for increased boost.
To top it off, the core and pipe work are available in one of 4 stunning colour combinations.
