Toyota Aristo TOM'S Edition - Rare 2JZ Sleeper!
The Toyota Aristo is Japan's answer to a big, fast, executive saloon. They treated it to the legendary 2JZ engine, famed for its existence in the Toyota Supra TT. Mated to an auto gearbox this silky smooth cruiser still retains the 2JZ punch when the mood takes you!
The first gen Aristo launched in Japan back in 1991 and was marketed to the rest of the world as the Lexus GS in 1993. The Aristo name lasted up until 2005 with the second gen Aristo, which brings us nicely to the car we have here...
Now, some of you will have heard of Toyota’s factory supported racing team 'Tachi Oiwa Motor Sport', or ‘TOM’S' for short. This Tokyo based brand has given us some special edition variants of certain models over the years...
One of these being the Toyota Aristo TOM'S Final Edition. A final love letter from TOM'S themselves back in 2005, creating one very special version before Toyota ceased the Aristo name.
Based on a Vertex 300 these were handed to TOM'S who upped the spec with some lovely additions such as the limited TOM’S edition wheels, brakes, suspension and stainless cat back exhaust.
Compared to the standard Toyota Aristo, there were far less TOM's versions produced. This example is for sale in the Torque GT Showroom and has been maintained to a very high standard.
Imported by ourselves back in 2020, this Grade 4B example has only covered 3,200 UK miles, with a total mileage of 81,926 since 2005.
The Aristo has a decent amount of poke from factory, though this car is a bit more potent... Since being in the UK, this TOMS Aristo has been maintained and fettled by renowned Toyota Specialist Whifbitz, supplying and setting up a series of well chosen modifications.
These include Whifbitz front mount intercooler kit, Whifbitz 1st decat pipe and restrictor plate, Whifbitz 2JZ-GTE VVTi coil packs, Greddy Profec boost controller, Greddy Profec Map, HKS FCD and a Walbro 255LPH fuel pump.
Then Whifbits dyno mapped the car, giving it two switchable maps - 400bhp when set to low and 443bhp when set to high... Significantly more power than in standard from and on the road you certainly feel the extra shove, it's an Aristo like no other! See full details here.
