Very few cars deserve the accolades the R32 GT-R has received over the years. With massive achievements in motorsport including winning 29 out of the 29 races in the Japanese Group A Touring Car Championship, it soon became known as Godzilla!

We recently had this stunning R32 GTR return to our workshops for a power increase. Already mildly tuned, our repeat customer wanted to kick things up to the next level with some additional power.

First thing's first, the RB26 had to be removed. We've worked on countless Skyline's now so removing the engine is pretty straightforward and affords us better access, making the entire job far simpler.

With the engine out, the upgrades began. As we're increasing power, a multi layer head-gasket is a must. As it stood, this R32 still had a standard type head-gasket so that had to go. Where possible, we use Tomei gasket sets as the quality is perfect, they come with everything you could possibly want in a gasket kit and they're super affordable. Made from high quality stainless steel, chosen for its strength and ability to evenly dissipate heat.

The owner also decided it was a great time to go for further quality upgrades in the form of a HKS timing belt, replacement water pump, HKS Adjustable Exhaust Cam Gear Pulley & HKS Adjustable Intake Cam Gear Pulley.

Not only do these look awesome, with each pulley made from anodised duralumin with nickel plated gear teeth, but they allow you to fine tune camshaft timing, maximise performance and tweak the power characteristics.

Perhaps the biggest upgrade of all was the ECU. The owner wanted to bring the car's engine management right up to date, so a Link G4X Plug In ECU was chosen to replace the now old-hat Apexi Power FC. Installation was a breeze with no alteration of the factory wiring loom required. The latest G4X ECU range has a much faster microprocessor, high speed communications chip and 512 megabytes of data logging across the entire range. Furthermore, features such as launch control can be easily configured when the ECU is set up correctly.

So, what was the result I hear you say? Well, once it was all back together and the ECU was mapped, we ended up with a maximum output of 523.7hp! The car arrived with circa 450ph, so a very nice increase in power whilst maintaining sound reliability.

This car now has the performance to match its stunning looks, with far greater response and drivability, exactly how you want an R32 GT-R to be!

Also worth noting - the Enkei RPF1's fitted to this R32 GTR are 17x9.5 ET18, which is an ideal bolt on size for the R32 GT-R. Check them out here...
